What tripto.kr stores, why, and how to get rid of it. Last updated 8 August 2026.

You can use most of tripto.kr without an account

Reading the Guide, the Manual, Events and the Community board needs no sign-in and stores nothing about you. An account is only needed to write something.

What we store if you sign in

Signing in goes through Google. We never see your password. From Google we keep three things:

• Your Google account id — an anonymous number. This, not your email, is what owns your posts and plans, so that changing your email or name doesn't lose them.
• Your email address — so a trip plan can be shared with you by address, since nobody can type an account id.
• Your display name — shown next to what you write.

What we store when you use the site

• Community posts and comments you write, and which posts you liked.
• Trip plans you create, including who you shared them with.
• Meet Up pins: the point you place on the map and the note you attach to it.
• Feedback you post, and which items you voted for.

We never ask for your location

This is worth being explicit about. tripto.kr does not use your browser's location. A Meet Up pin is a spot you choose by tapping the map — it is not read from your device, and the site is deliberately written so that no location permission prompt can appear.

Advertising

tripto.kr shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads, and may use your previous visits to this and other sites to choose what to show. You can control this at Google My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We don't track you otherwise

There is no analytics on this site — no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, nothing measuring what you read. The only cookies are the one that keeps you signed in, and the advertising cookies described above.

Where it is kept

Plainly: the database runs on a personal computer in Korea, not a rented server. The site itself is hosted by Vercel. Two consequences you should know about — the site's data is occasionally unavailable when that machine is off, and this is a personal project rather than a company with a data centre. Please don't put anything sensitive here.

Getting rid of it

You can delete your own posts, plans, pins and feedback from the site at any time. To have the account record itself removed, write to 7bvcxz@gmail.com and it will be deleted.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.

English is the source of truth for this page. The Korean and Japanese versions say the same things; where wording differs, the English one is the statement of record.
